Characteristics of the Spectra of Protons and Alpha Particles in Recurrent Events at 1 Au

چکیده
The spectra of both protons and alph'a pa•-ticles (1 <• E • 7 MeV/nucleon) during 31 recurrent particle streams are fit well by an exponential in particle rigidity. Although the spectra show considerable temporal variation, the proton and alpha particle spectra are correlated such that the e-folding rigidities Po(•) and Po(P) of the two spectra are in the ratio Po(•)/ Po(P) = 1.5 ñ 0.1. The consistency of this ratio may be a characteristic of the interplanetary acceleration process.

Characteristics of the Spectra of Protons and Alpha Particles in Recurrent
The spectra of both protons and alpha particles (1 ~ E ~ 7 MeV/nucleon) during 31 recurrent particle streams are fit well by an exponential in particle rigidity. Although the spectra show considerable temporal variation, the proton and alpha particle spectra are correlated such that the e-folding rigidities P0 (a) and P0 (p) of the two spectra are in the ratio P0 (a)/ P0 (p) = 1.5 ± 0.1. The co...
متن کاملProton beam dosimetry by CR-39 track-etched detector
Background: High and intermediate energy protons are not able to form a track in a solid state nuclear track detector (SSNTD) directly. However, such tracks can be formed through secondary particles created during primary radiation nuclear reactions in a SSNTD. Materials and Methods: The protons with primary energies of 9.6 and 30 MeV available at the cyclotron accelerator with corresponding lo...
متن کاملDesign and calibration of a passive detector for separating neutron, proton and alpha particles in mixed radiation fields
In this study, calibration process was carried out for deigned new CR-39 nuclear track detector for protons, neutrons and alpha particles separately under the same etching condition. In order to aim this purpose, americium-beryllium standard source (241Am-Be) and Plexiglas phantom for neutron irradiation, brass collimators and americium standard source (241Am) for alpha irradiation and the acce...
متن کاملTHE RADIAL DIFFUSION COEFFICIENT OF 1.3 - 2.3 MeV PROTONS IN RECURRENT PROTON STREAMS
Direct estimates of the radial diffusion coefficient • for 1.3-2.3 MeV protons in rr interplanetary space are made by comparing simultaneous observations of the diffusive anisotropy and radial gradient of these particles within recurrent streams. The 1.3-2.3 MeV proton anisotropy has been measured at 1 AU by the Caltech Electron/Isotope Spectrometers on IMP-7 and 8 during recurrent proton event...
متن کاملThe Effect of Solar Particles in the Choice of Alloy Shielding in a Satellite
The damages and logical failures in dierent parts of a satellite may occur during a solar event, when a bulk of solar energetic particles approaching the Earth. During solar events, these particles may cause extensive damages which are even permanent (hard errors). A way of damage reduction is designing a proper coating as the fuselage. As protons are the major component of solar particles and ...
